Do you love playing the PlayStation? Or do you text message a lot? Doctors form Geneva University Hospital, Swiss, just discovered a new disesase. It is result from extensive use of videogames, mobile phones, and other gadgets. The new disease’s scientific name is “idiopathic eccrine hidradenitis”. Medical experts call it the easier and more appealing “playstation palm”. It is a skin disorder. Red, sore lumps on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet are the apparent symptoms.

Many patients have come to hospitals with swellings on their palms. Doctors usually cannot discover the reason: until they find out that those people have been playing games for a long period of time. The main reason for playstation palm is because patients continuously hold console’s controls with repeated pushing of buttons.

The red lumps could appear not only on palms, but also on fingertips. The Swiss physicians explained that this is also because of technology, but now, it is the cell phone. Extensive text-messaging might hurt human’s fingers.
